Why SEAL TEAM Season 5 Will Air on CBS This Fall

Aug 30, 2023

By Movieguide® Contributor

SEAL TEAM will pick up where it left off on CBS after its two-year stint streaming on Paramount+.

“SEAL TEAM, in particular, was a popular draw on the broadcast network with an established fan base built over four seasons before leaving for Paramount+, so a return to CBS would be seamless,” Deadline Co-Editor-in-Chief Nellie Andreeva said.

Fans anticipated that season 7 would stream on Paramount+ this fall. However, the ongoing strikes indicate that season 7 will not be released in 2023.

“SEAL TEAM…moved to Paramount+ after four episodes of Season 5,” reported TV Insider.

But, “As the WGA and SAG-AFTRA continue to strike for fair wages and better protections in the workplace, the network will bring the streaming series back to broadcast television as part of its fall 2023 slate. [SEAL TEAM’s] new run on CBS will begin on Thursday, November 2 at 10 p.m., picking up from where it left off at the network with Season 5,” MSM reported.

Movieguide® previously reported on CBS’s rerun-heavy line-up:

CBS just released an unexpected line-up for the fall. The new schedule includes CBS’s BLUE BLOODS, Paramount’s YELLOWSTONE, and some reality TV shows.

‘CBS on Monday announced a fall schedule heavy on reality TV and game shows, on which writers generally are non-union; reruns of cable, streaming and overseas series making their American broadcast debuts; and fan-favorite reruns of BLUE BLOODS,” Newsday reporter Frank Lovece writes.

The show chronicles the professional and personal lives of top-level Navy SEALs who organize and carry out risky life-or-death operations.

Movieguide® previously reviewed SEAL TEAM: Season 3, Episode 15: “Rules of Engagement.” An excerpt reads:

“Rules of Engagement” is a dramatic, thrilling, patriotic SEAL TEAM episode. It honors the service and sacrifice American soldiers make while serving their country and making the world a safer place. The episode opposes the chaos and evil that bad groups like Radical Muslim Terrorists, Russia and Communist China spread overseas. “Rules of Engagement” contains brief foul language and lots of action violence during the battle at the dam in Niger. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children for this SEAL TEAM episode.”
